Paper - I

Theory of Translation

[Maximum Marks : 60]

Note :- All questions from each section carry equal marks. All questions are compulsory and answer limit are approximately 250 words. Start the answer of each section from new page. Maximum limit of pages of answer booklet are approximately 16 pages. Answer should be written by the student in his/her own handwriting mandatory. The first page of answersheet should be download by the student from university website is mandatory.

नो ट - प्रत्येक खण्ड से पूछे गये प्रश्नों के अंक समान हैं। प्रत्येक खण्ड का उत्तरनयी नपृष्ठ से प्रारम्भ करें। उत्तर पुस्तिका की संख्या लगभग सोलह पृष्ठ से अधिक नहीं होगी। विद्यार्थी द्वारा स्वयं की हस्तलिपि में उत्तर लिखें। विद्यार्थी उत्तर पुस्तिका का प्रथम पृष्ठ विश्वविद्यालय की वेबसाइट से प्राप्त करें। (प्रत्येक प्रश्न का उत्तर लगभग 250 शब्दों से अधिक न हो।)

Explain the necessity or Process of Translation along with its concept.

अनुवाद की आवश्यकता अथवा उसकी प्रक्रिया की समीक्षा कीजिए।

Elaborate "Literary Translation" or "Scientific Translation" with suitable examples.

समुचित उदाहरणों के साथ 'साहित्यिक अनुवाद' अथवा 'वैज्ञानिक अनुवाद' की व्याख्या कीजिए।

Describe the role of "Semantics" or "Syntax" in the process of Translation along with examples.

समुचित उदाहरणों के साथ अनुवाद की प्रक्रिया में 'अर्थ विज्ञान' अथवा 'वाक्यविज्ञान' की भूमिका का वर्णन कीजिए।

Describe the problems in Translation of Poetry on idioms along with examples.

उदाहरणों के साथ काव्य अनुवाद अथवा मुहावरों के अनुवाद की समस्याओं का वर्णन कीजिए।

Translate the following sentences in Hindi.

निम्नलिखित वाक्यों का हिन्दी में अनुवाद कीजिए।

(a)

Diachronic Linguistics is that kind of Linguistics in which we study the historical development of Language through different periods of time.

(b)

The changes that have occured in language with the passage of time, are also studied under this.

(c)

It is there fore, called historical Linguistics.

(d)

Synchronic Linguistics is not concerned with historical development of Language.

(e)

It confines itself to the studyy of how a language is spoken of a specified speech community at a particular point of time.

(f)

Comparative Linguistics studies the similarities and differences between two or more different languages.
