Section A

(Short Answer Type Questions) 4X8=32

Note : Attempt any Four questions. All questions carry equal marks.

What is personal injury ? When is the employer not liable to pay compensation for personal injuries by accident under Workmen's Compensation Act ? Discuss.
2.
Discuss the role of tripartism bodies in strengthening industrial relations in India.
3.
What factors should be kept in mind by management in handling the grievance of the workers ?
4.
Define retrenchment. When will the retrenchment be considered valid ?
5.
The Factories Act, 1948 aims at protecting the interest of workmen and women workers. Explain.
6.
Explain the Contract Labour (Regulations & Abolition) Act, 1970.

Discuss the merits and demerits of politics-based trade union and presence of multiple unions in India.

Define 'Strike'. Explain the prohibition of strikes and lock out. When strikes and lock-outs are illegal under Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
